The Challenge
As nVent's volume grew, their manual assembly process using hand-operated clamps became both a safety hazard and a production bottleneck:
- Operator fatigue and injury from applying large amounts of force to sharp steel parts
- Production limited to 2 parts per minute per station
- Ergonomic concerns creating potential liability and OSHA issues
- Unable to scale without hiring and training more operators
The Solution
Visionary designed and built two "very cost effective" semi-automatic assembly machines. The new systems:
Eliminated Force Requirements
Machine applies all clamping force—operator no longer needs to apply force to sharp parts. Dramatically safer workplace.
Increased Throughput
Production increased from 2 parts per minute to 5 parts per minute—a 150% improvement per machine.

The Result
150%
Throughput improvement per machine (2→5 parts/min)
0
Operator injuries since implementation
The dual victory: eliminated safety risk while more than doubling production capacity.
